Oh my God, I am so bored right now. What is this instrumental music/montage for? I totally missed the explanation. This is definitely the bathroom break portion of the show. No offense, music nominees.
Zac Efron + Alicia Keys = strangest presentation coupling yet?
Okay, will admit I do love "Jai Ho" from Slumdog. Danny Boyle is such a cute little man. I hope he wins.
I'm finding all these Japanese winners incredibly endearing.
Wow, they're surprisingly good on time this year, considering all the montages and extended intros.
Oh dear, In Memoriam time. A lot of legendary people died this year. To Kill a Mockingbird is a great movie. Jean de Florette/Manon des Sources too. Flashback to 9th grade French. Paul Newman was fantastic, love him so much. That kinda made me tear up a smidge. Wish they'd save the applause until the end though.
Oh Reese. What is going on with your dress? It's like...not symmetrical. And oddly shiny in parts. Danny Boyle, you are awesome. I love your accent. I wish I had a Scottish friend so I could just listen to them talk all the time.
Here we go...
Marion Cotillard is so pretty, it's not fair. All the Best Actress nominees look so glowy! Did Meryl just say, "That's not enough" after Sophia Loren mentioned her 15 nods? LOL, Meryl. You are awesome.
I love Kate. FINALLY. So glad she won. Shallowly...what is going on with her hair in the back? SO CUTE with her dad. Amazing.
Wow, talk about star power. DeNiro, Kingsley, Hopkins...And DeNiro with the zinger! I guess Robin Wright and Sean Penn are together again. Why is he so pink?
Am very glad Angelina left her bitchface at home tonight. She looks much better when she smiles. Why does Brad always dye his hair the same color has his current partner? Mickey Rourke looks quite nervous.
What is with the bizarre closeups from the podium? OMG, Spicoli. Sorry, but I thought your screenwriter's speech was better. Darn, was kinda hoping for a highly entertaining Mickey Rourke speech.
Uhhhh, this Best Picture spliced footage clip show thing is just weird. Nice idea, bad execution.
Oh, the little kids from Slumdog, adorable...but how incredibly strange that they've gone to the Oscars in their fancy clothes which are pretty much the epitome of decadence and now they're going back to the slums of Mumbai...
So...all in all, a pretty uneventful Oscars this year. No real upsets, no big surprises, not even a particularly memorable speech. Hugh Jackman definitely gave 100%, although I prefer the more sardonic hosts personally. See you next year!
