Unsurprisingly, the DMV.
I went to the DMV to turn in some paperwork for one of our cars (since I've now become chauffeur and butler of the family) and I was yelled at by the guy at the window. Apparently he'd called my number "three times already" even though I'd taken all of two minutes to fill out a form. He tried to be nice to me by asking if my name was Chinese, to which I responded that it was. Then he said "ni hao" to me.
I hate it when people say hello in Chinese to me and then expect me to really impressed by the fact that they were able to string together two syllables to make up the most ubiquitous phrase in the language. Then I never know how to respond. I cannot count the number of times this has happened to me. I just want to say, "Stop it. That's not impressive!"
