There are a bajillion polls from USAToday, CNN, Gallup and whatever else have you, especially now during the election cycle, but I've never actually met anyone who's taken part in one. Well, now I can proudly say I've been polled.
The sum total of my knowledge of polls comes from watching Joey Lucas on The West Wing, but I've always wanted to be polled, so I very cheerfully told the pollster I would participate. He knew my name, which made me wonder briefly what lists I was on and whether that was safe, but I proceeded anyway. I didn't recognize the name of the organization (and I've forgotten it now) so I suppose it must have been a private organization. It was pretty short and focused a lot on abortion. They asked how I felt about the NRA, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, Planned Parenthood, who I would vote for if I had to vote today, and about Roe v. Wade. I gave appropriately lefty answers and that was that. I was asked if I went to church and if I had ever been to Planned Parenthood, which I thought was rather personal, but I went with it.
I wish I remembered the polling organization so I could look them up on google. Damn it. Anyway, it's pretty amusing being polled, especially if you like giving your opinion (I do). If anyone else wants to poll me, I'm available!
