I realize how behind I am. I told my cousin at my graduation dinner that I was going to spend the next few weeks holed up watching Lost online and she wrinkled her nose at me and asked if it was still good. I'm not quite sure. Is Lost passé now?
Generally I feel like I'm pretty up to date with the latest in pop culture/entertainment but I definitely jumped on the Lost train pretty late in the game. I only started watching because my apartment mates were constantly watching this year (and even they started pretty late). I waited until after graduation since I thought the chances of me becoming addicted were fairly high, considering my previous track
record with J.J. Abrams. I admit, I find the show pretty entertaining, but it actually drags a lot more than I expected. Maybe it's the fact that I watch them in huge mindnumbing chunks since all the episodes are at my disposal on ABC.com or that I already know some of the major plot developments. The only reason I've been watching so frequently is because I'm trying to avoid being spoiled, which is difficult when you're two seasons behind.Nevertheless, I still think the show is pretty good. I'm the jumpiest person on earth and I get startled at least once per episode. Even the opening titles, with the whooshing sound and the LOST letters freaks me out. I have to say, I don't really get all the swooning over the characters though. Most of them aren't that likeable. I don't get the Sawyer hotness at all. He's charming and has all the best lines, but he's got no shoulders! I will concede that Matthew Fox is really ridiculously good-looking, however. I love how they have Jack cry in every other episode--he's pretty good at it. I do love all that stupid, crazy mythology stuff and I just hope that they have actual answers and don't go the Alias route where the writers write themselves into corners with no resolutions. There's seriously like zero short-term gratification with this show.
In total contrast to that, I also youtubed the penultimate Doctor Who episode of the season and man, does the BBC know how to deliver. Regeneration! If the Beeb actually managed to keep a new Doctor a secret, I would be really impressed, despite being totally crushed. I'm 95% sure David Tennant's still going to be around after the season finale next week but the other 5% is biting my nails and wishing for next week, while hoping the BBC is bad at keeping secrets.
